Building a Search Engine in 30 Minutes

After reading Matt Cutt's review about Google Custom Search Engine I was immediately thrilled to build my own search engine.

Some time ago I registered the domain wedding65.de. Originally I wanted to build a local community for the district Wedding in Berlin, Germany. I had to abandon this idea for certain reasons. So I was already thinking about selling or simply cancelling this domain.

Now I changed my mind and started building a local search engine for Berlin Wedding. The first thing I had to do was looking for my credentials to access the server. I guess this was the most time consuming task. Than I signed up for the Google Co-op platform, created a new Custom Search Engine, added some sites, made some Look and Feel adjustments, copied the code for search form and results to my static HTML files, build a small CSS file and uploaded the files to server. That's it!

I'm not using the Beta mark on this site though I need to make some enhancements, add some info and so on. But for the start I have a running search engine that took about half an hour to implement. This is really amazing.
