Google Analytics Showing off Nice Curves

Google launched a new version of their free web statistics and tracking service Google Analytics last Tuesday. The first thing you notice is the completely revised dashbord that displays statistics on visits, pageviews, traffic sources and other data for the past month instead of the past 7 days.

Moreover instead of using bar graphs continuos curves are used to give users a better impression of statistical trends for their websites. Google Analytics is a free Web statistics service that provides many metrics that are very helpful for SEO and improving website usability. You can also use Google Analytics to track AdWords campaings.

A drawback of Google Analytics is that you feed Google with even more data about your website than they already have and also about you. If you use Gmail, Google Reader and other Google services, Google probably knows more about you than you do yourself.

Nonetheless, I think for a certain range of time the advantages of Google Analytics outweigh the drawbacks. Read more information on the new version of Google Analytics on Google's Official Webmaster Blog. You can also watch a flash tour that visualizes the features and power of Google Analytics.
