Is Google dangerous?
Posted: Tue 04/24/2007 by ramiroGoogle owns about 50% of the search engine market, stores user data from all of its programs and maintains records on them. What does Google do with these data and does Google care about privacy?

In addition to privacy issues it should also be noted that Google, because it is so large, controls much of what the general public sees. This may be our own fault for not searching more but because Google controls what most people use to search information Google's control is a large influence. Case in point; this week Google removed "Inner City Press" articles critical of the U.N.
A search engine, as I would define one, should be to provide information, not filter content. I'm not surprised however. It is well known that Google helps the Chinese government prevent its citizens from searching any topic related to personal freedom. I stopped using Google long ago because of this.
