SEOs lust for traffic. Many of them would sell their own mother to get a link from a high traffic site. The problem is that such deals are rarely offered, so there is a need for different link building techniques.

A Google search for link building tips yields more than 29.000 results. More than enough to spent months reading articles on how to become a successful Web publisher.

Number 1 yigg user baynado made this screencast on how to use the Yigg Spion (yigg spy) to find out which articles are most viewed and recommends to post links in the comments of these posts, wishing his audience happy spamming.

The Drupal core comment module comes with a block called Recent Comments, that displays links to the latest comments, the comment author's name and the time that passed since the comment was posted.

If you configure the comment module so that users can enter their homepage URL the comment author's name displayed in the comment block is not a link to the URL entered.

Considering the huge amount of spam comments blogs receive this seems perfectly reasonably. But you can configure Drupal so that comments by anonymous user's must be approved. This way you can prevent spam comments from being displayed publicly.

In the past days I have been flooded with ionolsen comment spam. Fortunately there are useful plug-ins for Drupal, Wordpress, Movable Type, etc to at least reduce the amount of spam you'll actually get to see.

Anyway I damn these stupid bastards who have nothing better to do than wasting the time of other people. Some Black Hat SEOs argue that it's Google that created this problem by introducing the so called Sandbox some years ago. No matter what I think about the Sandbox, this argumentation is typical for these cowardly spammers. It's always someone else's fault.
