Site Upgraded to Drupal 6
Posted: Wed 04/09/2008 by ramiroThis site is now running on Drupal 6, yeah! The basic part of the upgrade process was straightforward:
- Backing up the site with a backup script.
- Deactivating all contrib modules and themes.
- Moving the Drupal 5 files to a new directory.
- Unpacking Drupal 6 and contrib modules in the web root directory.
- Running the database update script.
- Activating contrib modules and themes.
- Running the database update script again.
If you plan to upgrade a Drupal site without having done so before, I highly recommend this screencast by Angie Byron. The video walks you through upgrading a site from Drupal 4.7 to Drupal 5, but most of the information applies to a Drupal 5 to 6 upgrade as well. Also read the Upgrading Handbook.
Sectionnav Module
Posted: Wed 07/11/2007 by ramiroSectionnav is a module for Joomla 1.0.x that lets you create a navigation menu for the sections of your site. The menu that will be generated consists of three levels: sections, categories, and content items.
Admins can specify the sections to be listed by entering a comma separated list of at least two section IDs in the module configuration. The order of the entered IDs determines the order of the output list. By default all specified sections will be displayed as an unordered list (ul-tag) in the module.
Sectionmenu Module
Posted: Wed 07/11/2007 by ramiroThis module displays links to published content items the current user is allowed to view within a section specified via the module's parameter settings. The content items are organized by categories.
For each category in the specified section there is a blogcategory link. Below the category link each content item in this category is linked if the category is active. This module supports search engine friendly URLs. You can display multiple instances of this module on the same page. This is recommended only if the access key feature is turned off, because these keys may be assigned ambiguously.
JAddresses Component
Posted: Wed 07/11/2007 by ramiroJAddresses is a Joomla component for managing a directory of addresses similar to yellow pages. It can be used to list addresses of companies, official organizations, and others.
Entries can be added and edited in the back end. It is also possible to add (not edit) entries via the front end, these are unpublished by default. Currently JAddresses supports one level of categories that are managed with the Joomla Category Manager. After at least one JAddresses category has been set up, entries can be added. Required fields are: name, address, city, postcode, country and description.
Buy Me a Beer
Posted: Sun 05/27/2007 by ramiroBuy Me a Beer is a simple Drupal module that allows donations via Paypal to buy beer or whatever you may ask for. All credits for the idea to develop this module go to Ankesh Kothari who wrote the Buy Me a Beer Wordpress plugin. Thank you Ankesh!
Buy Me a Beer is a very simple module that is supposed to stay simple. Neither database tables nor 3rd party modules need to be installed to get Buy Me a Beer set up and running.
Since this module uses services provided by Paypal, you obviously need to have a Paypal account.
